Bee School 2014


Crossroads Beekeepers is pleased to announce Bee School 2014!  It will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2014, at the Stewardson Community Building in Stewardson, Illinois.

This year's Bee School will feature beginner classes for those wanting to learn about beekeeping or those needing solid education in the basics to become a successful beekeeper.

The all day workshop will feature 5 educational session, 3 demonstrations, many educational displays, and a live observation hive.  Two venders will be present to sell you what you need to start beekeeping this Spring.

A catered meal from Niemerg's Steakhouse will be provided as a part of your registration fees.

Cost for the workshop is $30.00 per person, with a 50% discount available for additional members of your immediate family.

Next Meeting on January 13th

The next meeting of the Crossroads Beekeepers will take place on Monday, January 13th, at 6:30pm, in the basement of the U of I Extension Center, 1209 N. Wenthe, Effingham IL.  Please enter through the west doors and go downstairs.

This meeting will primarily focus on emergency winter feeding of beehives, planning for Spring, and final preparations for the Bee School taking place on Saturday, February 1st at the Stewardson Community Building. 

As always, the general public is welcome to attend.

John Michl - Beekeeper of the Year


 
At the December 9th meeting of the Crossroads Beekeepers, John Michl of St. Marie was presented with the Third Annual Crossroads Beekeepers’ Beekeeper of the Year Award.  John Michel, beekeeper and charter member of the club, received the award “In recognition of his dedication to promote, encourage, and educate others in the practice of beekeeping in 2013.
